What is an Android TV Box?


An Android TV Box is a small electronic media centre that connects your Internet Connection to your regular Non-Smart or already Smart Television. These small plug and play devices can cost-effectively turn almost any TV with either an HDMI Port or an AV Port into a Smart TV. Most people use TV Boxes to stream online VOD Movies, TV Series, Documentaries, Kids Programming, Live TV Services, Sports and Music.

Should I buy an Android TV Box?

What is a Google Certified Android TV Box?


Google Certified devices support all official Google PlayStore APP's, as well as official versions of the Android TV operating system. Therefore, if you require updating the DSTV Now, ShowMax and Netflix APP's on your device from the Google PlayStore, you will need a Google Certified TV Box. (See MeCool, Mediabox or Xiaomi.) These TV Boxes ensure a future hassle-free streaming experience as they are compliant with all the major mainstream streaming services.




What is a Google Non-Certified Android TV Box?


Google Non-Certified devices don't typically support official Google PlayStore APP's, nor official versions of the Android TV operating system. If updating the official DSTV Now, ShowMax and Netflix APP's from the Google PlayStore isn't a concern for you, one of these devices would be the logical choice. There are however possible limitations with regards to the use of the above mentioned official APP's, as these require the certification in order to operate and update in the future.




Can I watch DStv, Netflix & ShowMax on a Non-Certified TV Box?


Typically no, however on selected MyDroidBox Non-Certified TV Boxes these APP's are available for use. The Google Playstore is curently recognizing some of our Non-Certified TV Boxes as "certified." (This may however change in the future.) Should you require the continued use of DStv Now, Netflix or ShowMax APP's indefinately, we strongly recommend that you purchase a Google Certified TV Box.




How fast should my internet connection be?


We recommend a minimum internet connection speed of approximately 10mbps to adequately access all available online services, locally or internationally. This speed does also depend on the internet load in your house, as multiple online devices connected simultaneously will slow down your connection and also depends on your connection type, your ISP choice and/or their in-house data managment protocols.

What happens once I've placed my order?


You'll be notified that we've received the order and payment via email. We dispatch orders on the next available courier run during our business hours, immediately upon receipt of payment or a proof of payment has been received from our online payment gateway partner.




How long will it take for my order to arrive?


Our express delivery is overnight to major cities, but can take up to 3 business days depending on where you live. Please note that delivery also depends entirely on the courier company and their operating schedules. (Public holidays excluded.) We have no control over this process once your order has left our premises.​




Which Couriers do you use to deliver?


We use Aramex and The Courier Guy. Both companies have an outstanding record with us, they deliver timeously and haven't let us down yet. Your order is in very good hands with either of these fine organizations.




Can I track my order online after purchase?


As soon as we ship your order off to you, we'll send you a waybill number via email for you to use to track your parcel. Please go to the relevant company's website to enter your waybill number for more information on the progress of your order.




What if my order doesn't arrive?


To date we have a 100% delivery record, however should this ever occur please first contact the courier company with your waybill number and they will investigate the matter further. If you don't get any information from them, kindly let us know and we'll follow-up on your behalf. Please note that due to the nature of our business there is always the possibility of small courier delays.




What if I'm not happy with my order?


Your satisfaction is very important to us. We make every effort to ensure that your experience with us each time is a great one. If you are ever unsatisfied with something, please contact us using the appropriate channels and we'll look into your concern immediately.




Do you offer refunds?


Yes, you have 5 days from the date of invoice to contact us via email to inform us that you wish to return your new purchase for a full refund. We must receive the item back undamaged, with all it's boxes and packaging intact or a mandatory 20% handling fee will apply at our discretion.




Do I get a warranty with my purchase?


Yes, please note that for Google Certified devices the warranty period is one (1) year from invoice date. For Google Non-Certified devices the warranty period is thirty (30) days from invoice date. Warranties are set by our suppliers and we therefore are ourselves bound by these terms and conditions.




How do I send an item back?


Please use Aramex to return the faulty or unwanted item back to us. Kindly note that the cost of returning an item will be for your own account. Should we replace an item due to a hardware fault occurring within the warranty period, we'll cover the cost of resending you the repaired or replacement device via courier. Please allow up to 10 days for this process to be concluded.
